Shane Hipps

When it comes to home building and renovations, there is very little that Shane Hipps has not touched. As owner of Closing Contractor, he focuses on completing home renovations and tackling and repair request lists for real estate transactions. He is a Master Electrician, Master HVAC Technician, Residential Homebuilder, Commercial General Contractor, and has participated in a variety of certification programs that qualify him to address more specific issues such as lead based paint and radon mitigation.

Shane grew up in Simpsonville and, after graduating from Hillcrest High School attended school at Erskine College and Greenville Technical College before serving our country for 4 years in the Navy. In 1999, Shane started Allstate Electrical with his father before branching out as owner of Hipps Contractors where he worked as a home builder and real estate investor for several years.

It was around 2008 when Shane observed the need for skilled, reliable contractors who could take on the repair needs of home buyers and home sellers who are already under stress due to the time constraints involved with a real estate transaction. “I really enjoy taking on the challenge of smoothing out a real estate transaction. I don’t like re-doing things and when I can get it right for people at a time when they really need it, it’s very satisfying.”

Tommy Donovan

A native of Greenville, Tommy Donovan feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to see his home town mature into what it is today. He took over the reins of RIC Home Inspection back in 2003, ending his stint as a home improvement sales representative for a locally owned home remodeling company. In fact, it was during the restoring process of his first home, a 1914 Arts and Crafts bungalow near downtown Greenville, that Tommy developed his appreciation for houses and all the components that make them tick.

Tommy also credits his background in Journalism as a contributing factor in how he sets himself apart from your average home inspector. After graduating from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, Tommy spent several years working in the news departments for WYFF-TV and WORD Radio right here in the Greenville area. “Home inspections and news reporting have very much in common with each other. Both disciplines require an ability to collect a large amount of data quickly and accurately while transforming this information into a report that communicates complex issues in a clear and concise manner to your clients.

Tommy is currently a Certified Inspector with the American Society of Home Inspectors and is also actively involved with the South Carolina Association of Home Inspectors: whose efforts are geared toward raising home inspection standards across the state.

Tommy’s biggest thrill as a home inspector is helping his clients ease the hectic process of carrying through with one of the biggest investment of their lives. “I feel that the real estate agents do a fabulous job of introducing a buyer to their new home, but it’s the inspector who has the privilege of helping the buyer get to know their new home on a more personal level.”

Tommy enjoys the companionship of his supportive wife and 4 wonderful children. When not home inspecting, you will likely find Tommy with his family working on another one of his passions…coaching youth soccer.
